About Us
Hi, we’re Sian and Ben, the husband-and-wife duo behind Gut Food Blog. We live in North Yorkshire with our two small (but highly opinionated) food critics: Emmy (6) and Archie (4).
This blog is our home for all things real food, gut-friendly living, and how we’re navigating that with two kids, full time jobs, and a realistic approach to wellness that fits around our real lives.
Our ethos is all about eating well now to make changes in your life, no matter what stage you are. It’s never too late! We’re in our 30s and decided to start making those changes for our family.
It all started in 2024 when we decided to cut out ultra processed foods (UPFs) and to try to eat 30 plants a week. Today we’re still learning, but we have a “fermentation station”, we batch cook like pros, and we have fun trying to figure out family meals that everyone will eat.
Why Gut Food?
It’s a little pun on “Good Food”, but we chose the name because the gut really is at the heart of our health, and we’ve experienced firsthand just how much it can transform your energy, mood, body, and lifestyle when you start treating it right.
We made a committment to whole foods and gut friendly living part of our family ethos. But we know that’s not always easy with kids and a busy life – only one of us loves to cook, another loves to have seventeen different activities on the go at one time, one of the kids eats everything, and the other is a fussy eater who was once an allergy baby

We don’t want you to think that healthy has to mean boring!
